So if you had talked to me before I gave birth I would of told you how I planned on things going. I wanted a natural birth, no meds and no c-section. I didn't even want to be induced I wanted our little man to come on his own when he was ready. Well life doesn't always go as planned.
On June 14 I went to the doctor and was told I was at a 1. I was so excited that something had started...we had a rough week my gee (grandpa) had died the day before and unfortunately I was in the room when he coded and had to run through the hospital to get to my mom at 36 weeks pregnant. I even started having contractions on that day. Well my next 3 appointments we were still the same no change you are still a 1. Granted I was still having contractions pretty much all day they would just never get into a pattern. We were stuck and not progressing very fast.
At my week 40 appointment I had to see a different doctor because mine was out of town. This doctor started talking about how big our little man was and that I should have a c-section that day. If you know me I was dead set on this not happening so I left the office ready to see my regular doctor on Monday. I started doing everything imaginable to induce my labor natural and nothing was happening.
Monday's appointment Dr. Black informed me that I was still a 1 and only 50% effaced. So we decided that at exactly 41 weeks, Wednesday July 13 I would be induced. Luckily for us we new this would happen no matter how many people they had at the hospital because I was lucky enough to have one of my best friends come with us to be our nurse.
On July 13 we got to the hospital at 7 a.m., Ashley got us all set up and ready for the doctor to come in to break my water. When he came in our little boy was so high that the doctor had a hard time breaking my water. He told me good luck and actually called later that day to check in on me and the progress we were making. (apparently this is something he does not do very often) We got the Pitocin going and by noon I was at the highest amount you can get and was having the strongest contractions you can have. I was checked and was at a 4. I was so tired that I decided to go ahead and get my epidural because the was going to be a long day it seemed.

My amazing nurse that I love so much Ashley!!

At 2 when I was checked again I was still at a 4. The same thing at 4, nothing was changing even though I was having all the contractions. At this point Dr. Black called to check on me and started talking about a c-section if I did not start progressing before she came at 6. I'm not going to lie for the next to hours my blood pressure was sky high and I could not stop crying. This was not the plan not to mention I was terrified.(For the record I have never had surgery or stitches)
Dr. Black came in at 6 and checked me and I was still at a 4. She then told us we needed to have a c-section. I became very upset and really started crying. I figured that I would have a couple of hours to prepare myself...NOPE that was not going to happen she was going to take me back in 10 minutes. Ashley and another nurse started getting everything ready. Calvin had to get into the gown they gave him and be ready as soon as they were done. I felt like I was getting hysterical I was crying my mom was crying and looked very worried.
They took me back to the room and I have to say its just like on T.V. everything is so white. They got me all strapped in and had everything ready. My anesthesiologist was amazing she helped me calm down and made sure I was comfortable. The actually c-section did not seem like it took very long.
At 6:55p.m. our little Angel was born

As soon as they got Avery cleaned up Calvin, Ashley and Avery headed out to meet all the people waiting for his arrival. As soon as they left they started closing me up. (had a few complications but everything turned out fine) I don't know what happen with Calvin showing off Avery all I know is what has been told to me. Of course everyone was so excited to see him but the best thing was that as soon as my mom saw Ashley holding Avery she ran down the hall screaming asking if I was okay. Even at 26 I'm still a momma's girl. :) Here are a few pictures to show off everyone holding Avery. Granny (my mom)
